Chad & Hi-C's Jologs Pa-Soshal 90s Wedding--In Other Words, Throwback Wedding!

"So it was made. That we will wear sophisticated (more of like pa-soshal) clothes but we’ll not lose our “normal” selves. Thus, we had come up with a jologs with a bit of pa-soshal wedding. And what would be more jologs than the 90’s era? So, give way for a 90’s themed wedding."

Rebellious Bride Hi-C on their "Jologs Pa-Soshal 90s Wedding"

Photography by Cherryblocks

There's nothing quite like a couple who's bold enough to make fun of themselves...and their wedding. The bride already explains their wedding all too well so let's start!

RB Hi-C Shares: My husband and I are not fond of being the center of attention unless we are making fun of ourselves or we are performing a song/dance number for our family and friends. We hardly even throw a big birthday celebration. We are a fun loving couple. Everything too serious and too conventional bores us and everything too pretentious is not good to our eyes. We want pretenses but we want it the comical way. Thus, we may opt to look formally sophisticated only if really necessary --- and we believed that it was really necessary for our wedding day.

"To project the 90’s/Jologs theme, our names were matched in F.L.A.M.E.S. (childhood game) printed on our invite and on our cake topper."

"The song I sang as a part of my vow was “Sana’y Wala nang Wakas” by Sharon Cuneta."

"For the reception, the table names were named after the famous love teams in the 90’s like Judy Ann Santos & Wowie de Guzman. Some of the dishes served by K by Cunanan Catering were streetfoods like isaw, tokneneng and taho. We also had a Filipino pasta station with tuyo and tinapa flakes and they also served crackling pork bits."

"Instead of the usual bouquet and garter toss, we asked the gents to play “Dampa” (rubber band game) and the ladies to blow the plastic balloon."

"To complete the fun part, instead of the traditional first dance of the couple, we opted to do a 90’s flash mob for our guests. My husband started dancing alone to the tune of “Pizzicato Five” (made famous by Streetboys) while our guests were having their dinner. I pretended that I was not happy with what he was doing because he left me alone eating. So, I started to pull him back to our seats. The guests stopped eating because they thought we were actually quarreling on our wedding day! Oh it was the best! Then with “Stars by Simply Red” playing on the background, we started dancing together. Then came another 2, and another until we reached to 20 people dancing to the beat of the 90’s."

"No wedding is perfect so was ours. But we love how it was full of love, full of laugh."

Congratulations to the happy couple and may your marriage be as unpretentious and fun as your wedding! As a special treat, we requested for the raw video of their flash mob, and here it is! Definitely a #throwback moment!

Marc & Mica’s Throwback Thursday

Oh wait, it’s just Tuesday (said the mother who had epidural). As creative license though, we’re calling it #timemachinetuesdays. And there, we’ve found an excuse to reminisce our wedding day.  But we’re doing it in a different way.

Here at Rebellious Brides, we do our very best to curate & try what’s out there in the wedding world. Recently, we checked out this new online wedding site maker called Wedding Lab.  Wish we did use one before our wedding but had fun using it on our imaginary second wedding. In fact, as part of reminiscing, here's our time machine wedsite: http://weddinglab.ph/mmm

WEDDING LAB is in the air!
We really had fun customizing the site and to think we’re not getting married, what more if it’s the real deal? Start by choosing from the super nice looking themes and then personalize the content.

But my favorite part is the gift registry.

Gifts are just representation of the cash value. So your guests will know where their contributed money will go.

It’s a totally new attack on asking for money on your wedding day (the non-tacky way). You can create a category so that the gift-givers know exactly what they're contributing to your wedding, like a Honeymoon Fund or a Baby Fund or a Home Fund. OR you can   invent your own gift registry category! Make it fun and creative for your guests :)

Pangkabuhayan Showcase
Trip to Quiapo to Amanpulo
Honeymoon Fun Raising

Since Marc & I have a little daughter already and we want to create fun memories with her, we came up with this online registry:

But wait, there's more!

This site can also be the avenue for your guests to get to know the two of you better, whether it be through blogging about your story or posting old photos.

Are you getting married soon? Or renewing your vows? Have fun with this site and share it with your friends and family. It surely is a great avenue and tool for your wedding preparations :)

When Paula & Nitoy decided to do they prenup in a steel factory, they thought it was the most sensible thing to do because that's where they first met. But what they didn't realize that it also made for a surprisingly photogenic and interesting visual! The shapes, the colors, and the interesting lines created so much drama and texture! Here's more from the bride:

Dear Rebellious Brides,

I have been a fan, a follower, most of the time a lurker on rebellious brides. Wished I have known about rebellious brides when I started to plan my wedding but just the same, from the day I found your site I eventually got hooked - the journey to the altar was so worth it. Thanks to you lovely ladies for inspiring me to defy odds, allowing myself to unleash my creativity and be who I really am.

We were not comfortable with the usual stuff to hold our prenup and pose like there was no tomorrow. Since we met and so called fell in love because of our work it just made sense to go back to were it all started and just be ourselves with a little bit of drama.

Thank you and more power to rebellious brides

Raschella & Vince's Secret Batanes Wedding

Photography by Aaron Ebio

This month is really turning out to be all about Batanes. We started the month with a Batanes DIY Wedding of an ex-officemate, I myself went to Batanes this month (and fell in love with it to bits), I'm also helping another officemate plan for her own Batanes wedding, and then another good friend just had her Secret Wedding in Batanes.

There's a saying in Batanes that goes "Javid sawen nu Vatan" which means "So beautiful, our Batanes". Raschella & Vince's wedding was a no frills, no fuss kind of wedding. And yeah, why would you want to add frou frou if your wedding is in Batanes? Every turn, every blink, every sight is an experience...and a rebellious bride would be wise enough to recognize that.

Writing this blog feature brings me back to high school days--organizing soirees with Raschella haha! My how far we've come! So I pay tribute to one of the most beautiful (inside and out) women I know. A woman who's always had a secret rebellious spirit of her own ;)

Congratulations Raschella & Vince! May you have a beautiful marriage and a beautiful family. My only wish is that someday, you'll also be able to fulfill your dream Prague wedding. After all, you can never have too many weddings! *Wink*

"Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity." -Charles Mingus
http://media-cache-ec4.pinimg.com/originals/51/89/34/518934015d083581026a44668d53b113.jpg

Kat is all about simplicity -- no froufrou, no fuss. She hardly even wears makeup. So for wedding day, she told me straight that she wanted to look like herself and not have as much makeup as possible. Even for her hair, she wanted it in a waterfall braid and very laid back. As a result, she looked simply beautiful.
Bridal look by The Makeup of Mica, shot by Tronco Photography

Love Kat's wedge booties and lace bouquet.

Since she didn't want to complicate her life, she and her then fiancé Francis chose Sonya's Garden for the reason that there is absolutely no need to style the place.

"We loved our reception venue, Sonya's Garden. we didn't have to do much in terms of decoration since it's exactly what we like but we did make sure na meron meryenda. Ayaw kasi namin yun nakatayo kang naghihintay tapos gutom ka pa kaya pinabuksan namin ng maaga yun venue para pwede agad pumasok at umupo yun guests sa tables nils. They can already order whatever drinks they want and we setup a snack bar with Sonya's famous hispinis bread, cheese hopia and cupcakes :)" -Kat & Francis

For the toast, they drank coke instead of champagne in line with their ideals of keeping things real and simple.
Instead of intricately arranged flowers as ceremony decor and reception centerpieces, they chose potted plants like herbs and cactus intended for guests to take home with them.

Kat also didn't want to complicate the wedding with superstitions.

Kat: This is a picture of us hanging out for a little bit at the hotel lobby before we left to go to the church. At least hindi kami praning sa oras tyaka dun sa "bawal magkita" na rule... hehe!
Here's more from Kat and how they simplified their big day:
Kat: I liked that he ended up not wearing a tie or a bow tie. He looked a lot more comfortable at hindi sya nainitan masyado (he didn't feel the heat). Hehe!

Kat: That's a picture of me with my Maid of Honor, J, in the bridal car. We didn't hire a driver or booked a bridal car so she just drove me to the church :)

Kat: As for the entourage, I asked them to just reuse a dress that they already have or buy a dress that they can use again. Sayang kasi magpagawa ng pare-parehong dress na malamang hindi na nila gagamitin ulit (it's a waste if I have them wear tailor-made dresses in the same style that they will never wear again anyway).

Kat also used a wedding app that us at RB and the Wedding Agency recommend to our clients. The aptly called Wedding App that collects all the photos from your wedding guests and organizes them accordingly in a timeline. Simply amazing!

To end this blog, here is the most laid back & chill wedding I have ever witnessed. Enjoy!

"There And Back Again" - A Save the Date Video

$

"The video itself is very simple. Instead on rooting the concept in our beginnings as a couple or on the present, we wanted it to focus on the future. No glam shots here. We wanted to focus on the feeling of forever (or at least, "for the rest of our lives, til death do us part"). We wanted to show how real it was, how utterly unglamorous it was going to be decades after the fanfare, when all is spent and everyone's gone, and it's just the two of us."
-- Rebellious Bride Anna on their Save the Date Video

Anna and John's Save the Date from Aisle 1401 on Vimeo.

This has got to be one of the most wonderful Save the Dates we've seen so far. Let this be an inspiration to both newly engaged and already married couples to remember what this wedding hullabaloo is really all about in the end.

RB Anna shares:

The concept was the groom (John)'s idea. We actually had several before that, but none seemed to fit my main requirement: no acting. We didn't want anything cheesy, and didn't want to go "candid" (since even those are still scripted somehow).

Towards the last leg of preps, we had finally decided not to have any pre-wedding videos, but our invites were late, and we felt we needed to release at least something. And so the last minute idea.

Set in a private ranch in Batangas, we intended the "feel" to be tranquil and quiet, and yes, comfortable enough for two people waiting to die together. A place like where we'd actually want to retire in. It serves a double purpose. A reminder, a goal. The music was chosen carefully too for its beautiful lyrics, and to blend with the vintage Art Deco theme.

We have had a lot of mixed reactions from the video. Although we had not intended it, some have associated the video with the movie UP. Many found it funny, but many also cried. We've also heard comments on how brave, or, well, rebellious we were, opting for the ridiculously obvious and ugly makeup, portraying ourselves in old age instead of young and beautiful. The truth is, we just wanted our prenup video to really mean something to us. Thankfully, we were able to produce one that we can not just look back to, but also something we can look forward to in the future.

We hope you get to share it, if not as a rebellious concept, as a reminder to all couples that they are still the primary audience of their (hopefully once in a lifetime) wedding videos. Because at the end of the day, at the end of their lifetime, all they'll have is each other.

THANK YOU Anna and John for sharing this with us. Your video is indeed a reminder and an inspiration to all of us who have been privileged to see it. You guys rock!

Rebellious Bride Pao's Wedding Style

Photography by the BlackTie Project
It's been a while since we last featured a bride specifically for her rebellious sense of style during the wedding and so we're glad we stumbled upon Rebellious Bride Pao through BlackTie Project's page :)

We admire the bride for being bold enough to allow her entourage to be in white. Not just in white but she made her bridesmaids look like Grecian goddesses! How amazingly 'generous' of the bride to share the spotlight with her girls! And the result? Such beautiful ladies --you can see how everybody is glowing and feeling pretty.

The bride & the girls' looks were both opulent but subtle--the bride sure knew the art of fashion/style editing! And what about those golden details especially the head pieces? Oh they are so gorgeous!

Congratulations to Nino & Pao and may you have a  blessed and abundant marriage as it were in your wedding :)

This final feature on our RB goes Gatsby special coincides with the grand reveal of Jason's latest offering. And we wanted to give it its own highlight as well:

Jason writes:

"Years ago, when I was starting out, I asked a lot of questions. Why can't wedding films be more moving, entertaining, arresting and involving? We pursued those questions - refining technique, defining approach and telling better stories... Much credit of course goes to the designers – EVERYWHERE WE SHOOT for putting this together. And putting up with me. The main box is a double gatefold. The inside left contains the disc format of the final video. The center slots contain additional disc copies. The inside right holds our premium USB key containing the data versions. All embedded within our mantra, our code of filmmaking. In one of the folds are representations of who I am and what I do – a curated gallery of material objects. They don’t define me as a person. They are merely products of my personality.Everything is contained in a sleeve....Show it off. Be proud. Many aspire. Very few acquire." -- www.jasonmagbanua.com/blog/

The End.

Acknowledgments:

So much love, talent, hard work, sacrifice, and generosity went into the entire Gatsby shoot. It all started with a simple email from Carlo Cecilio of ImagineNation that had a simple request: to collaborate on features for the blog.

Each and every person who contributed--from Amanda flying all the way from Boracay, to Mich de Guzman squeezing in the time to do illustrations in between layouts for her day job, to Teddy Manuel and Koni Esteban for crafting special pieces for the shoot, to Madge for incredibly styling, pulling out, and creating each and every look, to Ryan Madamba, Clayton, Jun Escario, Joey Samson, Maco Costudio for allowing us to shoot their masterpieces, to Jason taking out of his crazy schedule to do some poses (and allowing us to shoot in his fine office at that) --every person who was part of this honestly, didn't have to go through all the trouble. Yet everybody did. It makes us want to move forward and continue building this amazing community.

Here Comes the Groom

When we posted the entry Rock the Suit, all we had was the stylist's photo of the legendary suit with the mystery groom. Turns out our rebellious groom's name is Allan. But what's equally rebellious is his bride Jo, who was more than willing to shift the spotlight to the groom. Now, that's unconditional love!

Jo: Usually, I find weddings to be the day of the bride. But for us, I'm so happy that my husband was the center of attention. I love it when its him on the spotlight. I don't know why but I'm just more contented. With his suit, his vow, his dancing skills, he truly was the "it" person of that day.

Jo: The theme of the wedding mostly revolved on my husband's suit.

Metals & Crystals by Gideon Hermosa (Photo from Gids)

Jo: Our initial plan was just to have a small, intimate wedding where we have just 50 guests or less. We also really didn't have a theme. My only request was for our suppliers to make sure that they compliment my ex-boyfriend's, now husband's, suit since its a bit edgy. Many many thanks to Francis Libiran.

Since we have quite a number of relatives and friends, to achieve our intimate wedding, we decided to have an after-party. This all happened in just a day. It was a late lunch reception at 1pm and an after-party at 8pm. Through this we were able to achieve our wish to have an intimate wedding and to be able to invite our parents' guests.

The Full Wedding Film

Cy & Kai - The Full Edit of the Bora Hop Wedding from Kai P. Cruz on Vimeo.

I've never seen a full wedding video, have you? We've fallen in love with the concept of "same day edit" that we've forgotten what a full one must look like. Imagine getting someone like Jason Magbanua, which is such a premium, and yet we've only really just seen the short film versions--and that's how good he is because you give him that full trust, and you are actually more than happy to just receive the 2 to 3-minute highlights of it.

The DVD Menu
So when we received our full video, we didn't have any expectations. At the very least I figured, it would obviously have more clips of the wedding. But I never in a million years would have known that the full edit was actually even better than the short version---if that's even possible to fathom.

Watching this video brought about so many emotions and so many surprises. The DVD also comes with a copy of your vows--which is a great reminder of why you guys married each other.

It comes with a nifty package too, which is a mark of Jason's taste, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. It's a piece of him that's somehow being shared to you, and channeled through your wedding.

If you're still in the planning stage and still can't decide on your videographer--or maybe you cannot justify the cost, this one right here seals the deal I think. With Jason and his team, you are not just getting a documentation of your wedding. It goes beyond that. It's literally a time capsule of your perfect day, beautifully packaged and delightfully preserved so eloquently for you.

XOXO,
Kai

PS. As a rule of thumb, we never dictated to Jason what music to use in our wedding videos--both the short version and the long version. As a couple/client, I would understand the "temptation" to ask your videographer to use the songs that you like. But I would advice you not to. Just because, as they go through your raw materials, they would know better on what would fit the actual material's mood and tone. Music plays a really important role in movies, tv shows, and it's the same principle in the wedding video. Jason was a DJ before he became a rockstar filmaker. And he purchases all-original material from artists across the globe just to be able to give your videos its own flavor. Trust and let go---you won't regret it :)

Rochelle & Adrian's Paper Dolls Will You Bes

This is the second time a Wedding Agency client of ours has been featured by Ruffles & Bells. The opening lines of Rochelle & Adrian's feature over at R&B says: "I'm truly blessed to meet brides who do think out of the box and who are not afraid to tell the world what their style is. Rochelle & Adrian are definitely one rockin' couple and as they would define their style: "simplicity is not in their dictionary". --And this absolutely makes us proud! Haha. Rochelle shares this moment with us and she writes:

Dear Rebellious Brides Kai & Mica,

I would like to share our paper doll will you be's for the adult members of our entourage. I was inspired after you presented our wedding walkthrough last September (2012) - giving us the red carpet-slash-highly stylized vibe for our wedding. :)

A copy of R+A's Brief - from the Wedding Agency Walkthrough
A copy of R+A's customized mood board - from the Wedding Agency Walkthrough
We kept the idea unique by copying the actual hairstyle of each entourage including Adrian & I. Each doll came with their "doll kit" which contains accessories and significant stuff that relates the entourage member to either Adrian & myself. Say for example our female candle sponsor is my grade school best friend who got lots of feline friends so we put in a chubby & adorable cat in her kit. :) Lastly, to make the proposal more personal, I added handwritten notes for each entourage stating why we chose them to be part of out wedding.

Here's the link to Ruffles & Bells' blog. Eliska calls it a "fashion show in paper style". http://www.rufflesandbells.com.au/2013/06/paper-doll-will-you-bes.html?m=1
Thank you for giving us the idea! We feel like we're on track now in terms of executing our wedding theme quite well. :)

Cheers!

xo,

Rochelle

We absolutely love how you've made your walkthrough your own, Rochelle! And your Will You Bes take personalization to a whole new level. We can't wait to see more updates from your wedding preps! :)

When we did a little random 2013 forecast for weddings, we said that there was going to be a re-ignited interest on the Roaring 20s because of Baz Luhrman's Gatsby Movie. And here we are today, 3 features later--we've seen a slew of 20s/Gatsby-themed parties cropping up, and now a prenup!

Makeup artist Toni Rodriquez shares:

The couple wanted a 20's look, just in time for The Great Gatsby Movie! Location was done at the Manila Post Office :) I loved working with the couple since they were really game for this and as usual, I'm always amazed with how RabbitHole put everything together.

REBELations: WORD

Today's formula for a rebellious wedding:

REBEL + INSPIRATIONS = POWERFUL WORDS

Do not underestimate the power of words. And do not underestimate looking beyond the usual wedding sites. Sometimes, you will find the freshest ideas in a non-wedding setting.

So how about filling up your venue with these feel-good signage for your guests? It would be awesome if they can take it home as well. Or use these as inspiration boards or even as elements in your quirky wedding's look book.

Now, we don't need much words, do we?
May these awesome words leave you speechless.

Concept and photography by Zev Hoover
Can you believe that this rebellious, brilliant idea came from a 14-year old artist??? Zev Hoover showcases in his Flickr account Fiddle Oak, a concept which he fondly calls 'Little Folk'--a collection of his work where he makes his subjects look like tiny figures and places them in whimsical settings.  I cannot even begin to think how this talented artist managed to create such magical things at such a young age!

Just throwing it out there but why don't you try to contact the artist? What if he could create an amazing layout for you and your groom? You can commission Zev and you can use the work as your save the date, or in replace of an invitation, or how about as a photo wall backdrop? Or maybe even as your couple's backdrop/wall? The possibilities are endless and there's no harm in trying either!

May this inspire you all to have an adventurous spirit. No matter what your age is, it's never too late to be more attuned with your playful, dreamy side.

The Pre Prom Shoot

Photography by One Happy Story
I really fell in love with this idea that's why we decided to share them to all of you even if it's not a wedding. One of the saddest memories I had of my own prom was not having our pictures taken (even if I already paid for it) because we were late and by the time we arrived, the photographers already packed up. And then during our senior ball, yes we were early but gosh the photos were horrible--so cheesy and very generic. The prom and the elements that comprises the prom is only decided by the prom committee---the venue, the concept, and all the other elements are not anymore relayed to the whole body. At least that's how I remembered it--so naturally, the prom elements are not necessarily the majority's choice--so what if the ideas aren't really your 'thing'?

So the way that Caileigh, Brittany, Wendy, Kimberly, Denise, and Kathryna managed to rebelliously create their own shoot before the prom was absolutely brilliant because at least they were still able to personalize their prom, their own way. What's more, I love that the girls kept it natural and fresh--the obvious choice was to glam it up a'la Gossip Girl or whatever it is that teens nowadays are into but they decided not to! And for that I admire that the girls chose to be around a beautiful garden. It's a simple idea but it just had the right hint of fun.

Wendy shares:

"Prom is one of the most anticipated events of every Senior student. Wanting ours to be more memorable, we decided to have a barkada shoot in the suburbs where peace and tranquility reigns. .. framing every single memory in a surreal portrait where we all can keep in our hearts"

Now how does this relate to weddings? Well how about having a shoot with your bridesmaids? I for one did not have a bridal shower--my matron-of-honor knew me too well to understand that I wouldn't want  one. So instead, she created a photo shoot day for all of us. Isn't that a great alternative for brides who want something more than the usual bridal shower?

Thanks for allowing us to feature your barkada, ladies! You are on the right track to the path of creativity, and I wish I had thought of this too when I was younger! Haha :)

The Navins

Photography by Nelwin Uy
A couple of days ago, photographer Nelwin Uy re-posted the wonderful gay marriage he did in Sonoma, Californa two years ago. It was Nelwin's own way of paying a tribute and he wrote "victory for gay rights in the US!". But back home, coincidentally on the same day that Nelwin posted this wedding, GMA 7 was put on the microscope because of the sensational primetime series, My Husband's Lover. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), through its spokesperson was clearly against the show. The good part was that it made more people watch the show but on the downside, some advertisers shied away from supporting the program through commercial spots.

We've always been a supporter of any kind of love in this blog--and most especially the ones that are fighting for a good cause--whether it's as petty as just fighting for the kind of gown you want--to the downright serious such as fighting for gay marriage. In My Husband's Lover's FB page, they called for love instead of hate. What's not to love? Let's look at The Navin's beautiful wedding--the rain and the rainbow made it even more poetic. Enjoy!

I love that Nelwin created this artwork especially for gay weddings! Very detailed and personal!

The Details That Matter

When you look at Pao & Den's Ian Cruz Wedding Video, you might ask me why we chose to feature it in the blog--the wedding doesn't seem rebellious in the most obvious of details. But it did in the details that mattered.

It was in the way that Ian told the story--and how he best captured it with the bride. It was in the sweetest, most creative proposal. It was in the groom--not only in his outfit but in his own little quirks (including fake-tripping in the video). It was in the beautiful bride not just her fabulous gowns but in how she professed her love. It was in the perfect setting, in the most perfect cone in the world as the backdrop. Enjoy!

The Bride's message to Ian:

"When the downpayment was given to Shy at SMX, I hadn't met you yet. I only knew that you came highly recommended. Even then, I must be honest that I was a little worried. Everyone was telling me that videographers play a crucial role in every wedding. And yet, we just booked a videographer we had never sat down with. :) It helped that I saw how nice your outputs were from your site but I wasn't sure if you would be able to understand our story and whether anyone could capture it in a 5 minute film. My worries were eased when we had merienda at podium. As we sat there eating the burnt tinapay pizza, we took in your aura, and both Paolo and I felt a sense of calmness. You seemed to get us. Now, after seeing a same day edit that we didn't even expect, I must say that you truly are a genius. Seriously! When you asked me to share a little something about the watch, I complied but I never would have guessed that something like THIS could come out of such a simple sharing. Truly, you have made a mark in our story. We will always remember. We will always be grateful. Dios Mabalos, Ian Cruz (and team). :)"

Tawain Gets Metrofied

When I was reading Oly's write-up of Barbara and Anthony's pre-wedding photos in Taiwan, I could feel his emotions jumping right through my laptop's screen. So this feature is not just to showcase the couple and their Metrofied photos (that cannot even be encapsulated in any superlative that I can think of right now), this feature is also a recognition and respect for Oly's admirable dedication, and of the suspenseful challenges he had to face during this shoot.

Oly writes:

"It’s easy to say that this trip could easily have been a disaster, but despite all the troubles, there were several encouraging silver linings that mitigated all of them...I couldn’t thank Barbara and Anthony enough. What we did in this shoot is really one of the most difficult ever. There were times that I was looking to give-up on certain pegs already (something that I never do) but seeing both of them as determined as I was or even more, kept me going and we were able to do shots that have never been done before. Hiking up that impossible trail and climbing those slippery rocks were truly back-breaking – to do those and then still look amazing, that is beyond me. All the problems made this trip one of the most difficult, but all the great things that helped turn it around made this trip one the most fulfilling as well."
